October results
The final month of the regular season saw the D-backs attempt a stirring comeback, which ended up falling just short. They went 13-10 over the final month – their second best month of the season, and despite claims of frequent September collapses, it was Arizona’s fourth consecutive year at or above .500 for the month. It wasn’t quite enough, of course. But playing meaningful baseball into the final weekend is still an achievement, and helped confidence tick up. It was mostly due to fewer people
at the bottom end: at the start of September, 31% were in the 1-4 group, but by the end of the month, that figure was down to 12%. “7” took over as the most popular answer, compared to “6” the previous poll. That brought the average up half a point, from 5.44 to 5.95.
Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 polls’ results, followed by the line graph showing the trends over this and previous seasons.

November poll
The season ends, and an off-season begins – albeit with uncertainty as to how long it will last before coming to a grinding halt, for an indeterminate period. Most of the decisions affecting the team so far have been obvious ones. Michael Soroka opted out. Corbin Burnes did not. But in October, we have seen Torey Lovullo get a vote of confidence and be retained by the team. On the other hand, we both got rid of a pitching coach, and found his replacement. Does any of that make a difference to you? On a broader level, does it help that the World Series was between two small-market teams? On the other hand, what about the fact that this will likely be the last poll before the padlock gets clamped on the (literal and figurative) gates of the ballpark?
That’s what the poll below is for. And, of course, tell us in the comments why you feel that way, especially if your opinion has changed from last month. Here’s a link, for those on mobile.
