Could Tottenham Hotspur have a true Transfer Deadline Day bomba? No, I’m not talking about Mudryk or Tosin, and I ain’t talkin’ ’bout love; I’m talking about Neco Williams:
That’s right, according to Alasdair Gold, Spurs are quite
keen on the Nottingham Forest fullback; and wouldn’t you know it, they just might have a fullback slot free given the departure of Djed Spence, Souza, and Destiny Udogie’s general injury history.
Williams is a versatile player, able to play on either side of the defense and further forward as well, active in build-up and aggressive in his defense. He’d probably work pretty well in a De Zerbi side. There’s just one problem: Forest aren’t particularly interest in selling.
The issue with leaving player purchases this late is often that the selling team is now put in a rough position when it comes to securing a replacement; and Williams is arguably a key player for Forest. There’s also the slight matter of Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who is a nightmare to deal with when it comes to these sorts of things (to refresh your memory, he refused to honor the release clause for Morgan Gibbs-White when Spurs came calling last summer).
With that in mind, I’d probably file this one away under “unlikely to happen”… but it’s Transfer Deadline Day, and anything can happen. If it did, I wouldn’t be too upset. We’ll just have to wait and see!
