As the Cleveland Browns start practice for Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, the roster is going to get a lot of attention, especially given QB Deshaun Watson’s concussion protocol. On Tuesday, GM Andrew Berry made seven moves related to the practice squad, along with waiving RB Audric Estime on Monday, which left the Browns with an open roster spot on both their 53-man and practice units.
Wednesday morning, Cleveland filled those two open roster spots. First, the Browns signed TE Carsen Ryan
back from the practice squad. Ryan, a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, was waived to make room for QB Dillon Gabriel before returning to Cleveland’s practice squad and being elevated for Week 8’s game.
Ryan has played in seven games this season, with 85 snaps on special teams and two on offense.
Second, the Browns also signed RB Hassan Haskins to fill the practice squad spot. As the team noted, Haskins has bounced around the league during his career:
Haskins (6-2, 228) is in his fifth season out of Michigan. Originally drafted in the fourth round by Tennessee in 2022, Haskins has appeared in 44 career games with the Titans (2022) and Chargers (2024-25). He has spent time this season on New England’s practice squad. Haskins will wear No. 27.
In total, Haskins has carried the ball 76 times for 229 yards, with two touchdowns. He’s also added 18 receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown.
