Eddie Hearn continues to sound off on Dana White and UFC’s treatment of his fighters, now going so far as to tell the world he’ll be discouraging Tom Aspinall from fighting under his current contract as he acts in an advisory role to the MMA star. Hearn says he’s not witnessed firsthand the UFC’s mistreatment of its fighters, and he can’t in good conscious allow his fighter to participate.
“I’m not going to let Tom Aspinall fight for the kind of money that’s in his contract,” Hearn told reporters.
“To be involved in a fight against Pereira or Gane for literally 1/50th of the revenue of that show, f— that. I won’t let him do it. It’s time those UFC fighters stop being mugs and start to understand that these people are taking advantage of them. They deserve better.”
All of this, of course, if colored by an ongoing feud between Hearn and White as they’ve encroached on one another’s business in one form or another, and it’s only served to escalate the rhetoric between them.
As part of his representation of Aspinall, Hearn stands firm that his current contract is awful and it’s been reported that Aspinall could be a candidate to have that contract reworked by the UFC due to how they’ve been remodeling their business. You can bet Hearn will be firmly pushing that agenda along as he unequivocally says Aspinall should not accept another fight with UFC with the way things stand.
