With the 2026 NFL Draft right around the corner I asked the following question last week:
Are you in favor of the team trading up four spots in the first round of the draft if they could get the right guy, and if so, who would that guy be in your opinion? Or do you think that the cost would be too steep for a team with so many glaring holes to fill on the roster?
Below are some of your thoughts and answers on the subject-
TheRoo1 thinks the possibility of trading up might work next season for the right
guy.
If they already are dead set on Drafting Arch Manning next year they could trade this years picks, or maybe Brooks for draft capitol next year.
Trading up, but on a time delay,,,,,,,
Finsane1 says it’s not worth it!
Trading 2 3rd rounders to move up for Any1 would be completely head scratching. No, I wouldn’t do it! Keep THEM Picks and choose wisely. FinsUp!!!
OldFinFanDon believes it’s a terrible idea with all the current holes in the roster.
Absolutely not! That would be a Grieresque bone-headed move. We have too many holes to fill and need all the potential bodies we can get. Take the best player available or trade down a bit for more draft picks.
FlyerFinFan says no unless it’s for a guy like Bain.
Unless they want a pass rusher like Bain it wouldn’t make sense.
MiamiItaliano says stay put!
I think Sully has done a heck of a job stockpiling picks. Plus they should have enough to extend Brooks, Achane and Brewer. 6 top 100 picks could rebuild this team quick. I say stay put.
krammm proposes a trade-up three spots.
People say we wont move up because we don’t want to lose picks but we could move up 3 spots and trade our 2nd rounder for their 4th rounder.
Phoenix6 believes that the cost is just too high, given all the help this team needs.
Are you in favor of the team trading up four spots in the first round?
Trading up for the Dolphins 🐬 is nothing they should even consider, giving up anything for said player is too expensive.
They need all kinds of players this year, to give up even one draft choice.
If so, who would that guy be in your opinion?
No one at this time. Not one is one worth the cost.
Or do you think that the cost would be too steep?
Yes… if the Dolphins 🐬 were one or two players away from getting to the Super Bowl it would be okay to give up draft capital to get a certain player.
Draft capital only. Giving up players, being close to the big game, is, well, just plain stupid.
twinssdfan says no, too many holes!
No to trading up too many holes to fill.
Sure could use 10-11 picks in next years draft to get a big push for 2028 and beyond.
MIAMI235 wants them to go get as many picks as they can.
Simply put….. get the most amount of 1st and 2nd Round picks, regardless of up or down.
To get one great player , instead of 3-4 really good players, doesn’t build the Team…..excluding QB position, which doesn’t seem available.
darrel.owen would prefer trading down to trading up and has a solid argument.
I’ll again cite Aaron Sutton’s stat that if you ask GMs and scouts to rank the top three players of any position, 2 out of 3 times they’ll be wrong at who ends up being the best player. Why would you move up and spend precious picks when you can just pick from the talent available? I’m okay with trading back for more picks (to a degree), but I would rarely support moving up. You can look at almost any pick we’ve made over the last 10 years and find someone we’d all rather have and who was available than who we took higher up.
Dsandman09 is another who believes the cost is just too high.
Losing too much draft capital just to move up four spots. Not worth it!
davidson11 doesn’t believe it will happen.
Long offseason with little real news. 0% chance the Dolphins trade up
Xpensive_Wino would prefer to trade down and is optimistic about the new braintrust now running this thing.
If all of the necessary stars align, I would prefer they trade down and acquire more picks. I’m in the blind faith stage where I’m optimistic Sullivan and his crew are better at talent evaluation than Grier and will actually draft quality football players. Yeah, I know, crazy talk……..
I Hate Sports is another that prefers trading back to trading up.
Trade back > Trade Up
SuperG! has some questions of his own.
The question I have is since it’s obvious they won’t be targeting a QB in the first round, what player do you think the Dolphins will target in a trade up? Who would be worth giving up draft capital to get?
cyberflea says bet it all!
You can bet all the money in your bank account that the Dolphins will not trade up. However, a trade down is a possibility.
Well, the consensus is that we either do not want to trade up or that the team was never going to in the first place. A lot of you would, though, consider trading down, which does seem to make a lot more sense given all the holes that will eventually need to be filled. Thank you again to each of you who took the time to answer our Phinsider Question Of The Day.
