Barcelona saw Joao Cancelo pick up an injury in the first half of Wednesday’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo at Camp Nou.
The Portugal international was named in the starting XI yet again by Hansi Flick but went off midway through the first half after sustaining what seemed to be a knee injury.
Cancelo picked up the issue in a challenge and could not continue. Flick opted to send on Alejandro Balde in his place.
The news will be a blow to Barcelona and Cancelo as the defender has impressed since returning
to the club for a second stint in the January transfer window.
There’s no indication yet of how serious the injury might be, although Cancelo was able to walk off the pitch unaided after being replaced.
Barcelona will certainly be hoping that he’s not out for too long and will be able to play some part in the team’s final games of the season.
