Some bad news for a Monday afternoon as Mike Krzyzewski’s grandson, Joseph Savarino, has been charged with a DWI in a fatal accident in Durham on Saturday night.
Savarino allegedly struck a 15-year-old boy Saturday night while the boy, named Jack O’ Shea, was riding an electric bike.
Savarino blew a 0.11 on the breathalyzer and was charged with a misdemeanor DWI. If that sticks, he’ll be quite lucky. North Carolina is pretty strict on alcohol offenses.
It’s bound to be heartbreaking for his parents,
Debbie and Peter Savarino, and for his grandparents, Coach K and Mrs. K. All of them, and indeed, the entire extended family, are bound to be devastated. Please keep them in your thoughts.
That can’t begin to touch what O’Shea’s parents are experiencing, though. Our very best wishes and deepest condolences go out to them. What they are experiencing is unimaginable. If you pray, please pray for them as well. They can use all the support they can get right now.
Our hope for the case is that whatever is seen as justice is done. What a sorrowful time for everyone.
