With the 2026 World Cup right around the corner, German national team candidates are seeking to position themselves to make the squad.
For West Ham striker Niclas Füllkrug that means a move to AC Milan
is likely to happen. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg referred to the rumors of a move to Italy as a “done deal” with the German heading to Serie A for a six-month loan where Milan will not pay a fee, just the striker’s salary:
🚨💥 BREAKING | Niclas Füllkrug to AC Milan – DONE DEAL ✔️
Full agreement between AC Milan and West Ham. Six-month loan deal with an option to buy next summer. #WHUFC
No loan fee. Milan will cover Füllkrug’s full salary until the end of the season. Medical soon.
Plettenberg’s Sky Germany colleague, Patrick Berger, also posted similar information as well:
🚨⚫️🔴 BREAKING: Total agreement has now been reached between AC Milan and West Ham United on a loan deal for Niclas Füllkrug (32/🇩🇪). Green light from #WHUFC, proposal accepted.
No loan fee. Milan to cover the full salary until June 30. Purchase option in summer. Final details to be clarified.
Füllkrug is set to undergo medical checks soon.
Füllkrug was in desperate need of a change considering that he has only played 413 minutes (no goals or assists) for the Hammers this season. Hopefully, this switch will allow him to best position himself for a call to the German national team.
