Game notes
- The Boston Bruins will look to keep their hot streak going as the Atlantic-leading Detroit Red Wings roll into town tonight equally as hot right now.
- The Red Wings faced the Carolina Hurricanes last night so hopefully that will play to the Bruins’ favor. Detroit also celebrated one of its greats last night, retiring Sergei Fedorov’s No. 91 jersey. It’s a retiring numbers type of week!
- The Bruins collected four big points this weekend in two games that couldn’t have been more polar opposites but equally satisfying. From a 10-goal game to shutting out their opponent, the weekend had it all and the team will look to carry those good vibes into this game.
- With Sunday’s lone, game-winning goal, Viktor Arvidsson heads into tonight on a four-game point streak with two goals and two assists — and six points in his last six games.
- David Pastrnak rightfully so earned the third star of the week capping things off with his six-point game Saturday. He now has 14 points in his last six games.
- For Detroit, James va Riemsdyk has seven points with two goals and five assists in his last five games.
- This is the third meeting between the two clubs this season. The Bruins are 1-1-0 against them, beating Detroit in a 3-2 shootout win on Nov. 29 and falling 5-4 to them on Dec. 2.
- Head-to-head, these two are evenly matched when it comes to the power play with the Red Wings literally 0.1% better at 24.7% to the Bruins’ 24.6%.
- The B’s were off yesterday so there is no update on whether Morgan Geekie will miss any more time due to personal reasons.
- In other news: The Bruins signed Jonathan Aspirot to a two-year contract extension this past weekend.
- See ya tonight!
