Bayern Munich begin the 2025/26 season with a win and a trophy. The Rekordmeister marked their return to the Supercup, now named the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, with a 2-1 win against the DFB-Pokal Champions VfB Stuttgart.
This has heavily boosted the morale of the team, as it motivates them to keep pushing for more and win more trophies this season. Second captain Joshua Kimmich is among the players who have expressed their pride in the team and their joy in having secured a piece of silverware.
According to FCBayern.com, the midfielder believes that though they could have taken their chances better, the trophy was nonetheless theirs. “I’m very proud. Today it was about a title but also showing that we’re here. We did that well,” he said.
“We needed to take our chances better in the first half. We also had a few opportunities on the break in the second half. We were a bit lucky halfway through the first half as well,” he elaborated on the team’s performance.
“Stuttgart also had some good chances. At the end of the day, it’s very much a deserved win,” he said, expressing his satisfaction.
“There’s no sense yet talking about other titles. We’ll now focus on Friday. We want to win another match there,” he stated, referring the weekend Bundesliga opener against his former club RB Leipzig.
