It’s time for Game 2 between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals. With every win the Giants miracle playoff hopes grow; with every loss, it looks more and more like the season is over. So hopefully they win!
It’s veteran righty Justin Verlander taking the mound for the Giants. It will be Verlander’s 25th game of the year, and so far he’s 3-10 with a 4.29 ERA, a 3.73 FIP, and 114 strikeouts against 43 walks in 121.2 innings. He pitched five shutout innings with 10 strikeouts against the Baltimore
Orioles in his last game so … hopefully he does that again!
He’s up against fellow righty Andre Pallante, who makes his 28th start of the year. Pallante is really struggling, with a 6-13 record, a 5.38 ERA, a 4.69 FIP, and 101 strikeouts against 52 walks in 144 innings. He allowed five runs in as many innings against the Cincinnati Reds in his last start, though only two of those runs were earned.
Enjoy the game, everyone! Go Giants!
