Last week, the Detroit Lions made a statement in the NFC North with a win over the Green Bay Packers. This week, they could put the entire division—and league—on notice.
The undefeated Minnesota Vikings are in town, and they’re bringing with them the most feared defense in football. They’ve held every team below 22 points, and five straight opponents below 17 points. This is a team that certainly had Detroit’s number last year, securing the season sweet with 27-24 and 23-10 victories over the Lions.
But the Lions are more formidable this year on the offensive line, and they’ll give Minnesota their biggest offensive test to date. Detroit is averaging 30.7 points per game (second in NFL), and they’re starting to find some answers on defense, too. That’s good news, because while the Vikings offense has been bad (20.8 PPG, 24th), they do have some playmakers Detroit will need to keep in check.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET at Ford Field. If you won’t be at the game, this is the next best place to be. From one hour before the game until the clock hits 0:00, our Lions community will be right here in the comment section at the bottom of the page reacting and analyzing the game. All you need to do is have a free Pride of Detroit account, and you can join in on the fun. And, as always, I recommend participating in these chats through the SB Nation app, where comments come in automatically and the whole thing runs smoother.
