MLB Trade Rumors released their list of arbitration projections (which are usually eerily accurate) for MLB teams including the Guardians.
You can read the full list here. The Guardians’ figures are:
Kolby Allard – $1.9M
Sam Hentges – $1.3M
Steven Kwan – $8.8M
Ben Lively – $2.7M
Nolan Jones – $2M
Will Brennan – $900K
David Fry – $1.2M
Matt Festa – $1M
To me, the clear tenders are Kwan, Fry and Festa. I’d also tender Allard. The others can go any way you want, given injury and/or performance issues.
A video of Jose being interviewed and complaining about the team not spending money to support him from March 2025 made its rounds on Twitter yesterday. You can view a translation of the portions causing outcry from Matt Dery here. The entire video includes Jose saying how much he loves Cleveland wants to spend his whole career here. To me, the circulation of the video likely indicates that Jose (and probably his agent) want to pressure the team into extending him for a couple more years and adding (not subtracting) from the roster. So, it’s a positive, in my opinion. Will it be enough to produce any sort of change in approach from Paul Dolan? Well, probably not. Even Vogt referenced the idea that the roster had shown that if they can get a little help they can compete with anyone after the wildcard loss. Any public pressure on the Dolans and the front office is good, in my humble opinion.
The Arizona Fall League play for Cleveland begins tonight. You can follow Guardians’ players on the Surprise Seguaros here. Daniel Espino will open the game for Surprise.
Still expecting the end-of-season press conference from the Guardians to happen any day now, but likely without warning, because that’s how they do things.
AROUND MLB:
The Brewers beat the Cubs (yay!) and the Dodgers beat the Phillies (boo!) to take 2-0 leads in both of those respective series. The Mariners play the Tigers in Detroit (weather-permitting) at 4:08PM ET today and the Blue Jays visit the Yankees at 8:08PM ET.
