Sunday saw the Gwinnett Stripers drop their final game to close out the Atlanta Braves 2025 minor league season. While it wasn’t a successful season in terms of wins and losses, we did see plenty of development from Braves prospects – which is the more important thing in the minors anyway. That development continued down to the final day, as we got to witness another David McCabe homer. It is also potentially the last time Carlos Carrasco steps on the mound as a professional.

In their season finale the Stripers turned to Carlos Carrasco, for what could potentially be the final start of his long and successful career. Carrasco, who is 38 now, went three innings and allowed three runs on five hits and no walks. He did however strike out five and picked up 12 whiffs on his 41 pitches across his three innings of work. Dane Dunning came in for the next two frames, and pitched them without giving up any further damage. After a scoreless inning from Austin Cox, Amos Willingham came in and pitched a scoreless seventh. Willingham returned for the eighth with a 4-3 lead, but ran into some trouble and allowed a pair of runs while recording just one more out. Anderson Pilar came in to get the final five outs of the game, and he allowed one more insurance run to cross the plate.
The biggest story from this game other than possibly Carrasco’s final outing would be David McCabe hitting his fourth homer in Triple-A, a 395-foot shot with a 104.2 MPH exit velocity. McCabe, who also singled and walked, brought his season total to 14 homers including his 10 in Columbus. That makes his combined season slash mark .275/.367/.426 with 27 doubles, one triple, and the 14 homers with 71 walks to his 121 strikeouts in 547 plate appearances. McCabe didn’t have the only Striper homer, as Conner Capel hit his 10th of the season in the loss. Another prospect that had a good game was Carlos Rodríguez, who went three for five with a double and batted in a pair of runs. Luke Waddell and Chandler Seagle also had two-hit games in their season finales.
Swings and Misses:
Carlos Carrasco – 12
Amos Willingham – 6
