Over the weekend, Bayern Munich conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history. On Tuesday night, Bayern fell victim to another early deficit, this time through a free header by Viking’s Gianni Stensness. Viking doubled the lead before Bayern stormed back with three consecutive goals. Unfortunately, a mental error by Michael Olise sent Bayern down to 10 men for the final 15 minutes and Viking found a late equalizer.
In his postgame interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Konrad Laimer broke down the crucial
mistakes that sent Bayern home with a measly point.
“I think the start was the problem again,” said Laimer. “In each of our last two games, we conceded a goal in the first minute. That’s just stupid. It simply cannot happen, and we cannot afford to let it happen. The way we conceded the second goal was also unacceptable. We cannot allow ourselves to be caught out by a single pass over 60 meters.
“Ultimately, we responded well, played a good second half and had the game under control. Then we allowed ourselves to be provoked in that situation and received a second yellow card, which obviously didn’t help us. However, I also believe we could have done better with ten men. In the end, the game finished 3-3. I don’t think it was down to a lack of effort. We showed that we were willing to run and fight. But each of us needs to be a little bit smarter in certain situations.”
After a historic goal-scoring season in the 2025/26 campaign, Bayern has started to rely too heavily on their overwhelming talent advantage. While the team is still undefeated this season, the cracks are not closing fast enough to satisfy the insatiable beast that is Bayern.
