In the past couple of years, many people would have guessed quarterback Shedeur Sanders would make his starting debut at Allegiant Stadium.
However, just not with the Cleveland Browns. Yet, here we are.
Sanders was considered a prime draft candidate for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the team bypassed him several times before the Colorado product’s freefall ended when the Browns drafted him in the fifth round.
Sunday, as expected, Sanders will start his first NFL game for the Browns at the Raiders. Kickoff is at 1:05 p.m.
The Browns announced Sanders will start on Wednesday with rookie starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the concussion protocol. Thus, Sanders will get the full week of first-team snaps in practice before the game.
Sanders, who hasn’t gotten much practice snaps this season, looked quite rusty when he replaced Gabriel in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Sanders completed just four of 16 pass attempts for 47 yards and was intercepted once in the game.
Browns standout tight end David Njoku didn’t practice Wednesday with a knee injury and the team stated he is day-to-day.
