Sheesh, thank goodness this West Coast trip is just about over because something’s gong around.
Joel Embiid, Dominick Barlow, and Quentin Grimes have all been ruled out for the Sixers’ final contest of
their road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers. Trendon Watford and Andre Drummond will start in place of the former two.
This will be the first game that not’s a back-to-back Embiid misses since Dec. 19. He’s out with right knee injury management, and that last absence was a one-off so that shouldn’t set off too many alarm bells.
Grimes and Barlow on the other hand are both out with an illness, both being late additions to the injury report, Barlow popping up just an hour before game time while Grimes was added earlier in the afternoon. The good news is the Sixers will be heading home after this one after being away for the last week.
It would be nice to steal one more win shorthanded, but finishing off this road trip 3-2 is an acceptable outcome. Portland will have most of their guys available. Shaedon Sharpe is out with calf tighness, but Deni Avdija and Robert Williams III are good to go despite being listed with multiple ailments.
