It has been reported that the Milwaukee Brewers are working towards acquiring right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela from the Colorado Rockies prior to today’s MLB Trade Deadline. The move was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. It was also reported by Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
One of the Rockies’ longest-tenured players, Senzatela signed as a teenager out of Venezuela in 2011. He made his MLB debut in 2017 and has spent ten seasons in Colorado while working mostly
as a member of the rotation. In 212 games in purple pinstripes, 145 of them have been starts. Senzatela holds a 5.09 career ERA with the Rockies.
Senzatela emerged as one of the Rockies’ more likely trade candidates after reinventing himself as a reliever this off-season. Through his first 17 appearances, Senzatela maintained a 1.30 ERA with 26 strikeouts and did not give up his first home run of the season until May 13th. However, his performance took somewhat of a nosedive after that. In his last 17 appearances he has posted a 8.15 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 17.2 innings, though his 3.49 FIP indicates he may have been fairly unlucky during that stretch.
Senzatela is in the final year of his contract with the Rockies with a $14 million club option for 2027.
In exchange for Senztela, the Brewers are sending the Rockies two unranked prospects in left-handed pitcher Mark Manfredi and shortstop Juan Martinez.
Manfredi, 26, was selected by the Brewers in the ninth round of the 2023 draft from the University of Dayton in Ohio. He currently holds a 3.57 career minor league ERA over 181.2 career innings. Manfredi was originally a starter when drafted, but has pitched exclusively out of the bullpen since 2025.
While he originally started the 2026 season with the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, Manfredi has now spent most of his season with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. In 18 Triple-A appearances he has posted a 3.09 ERA with 30 strikeouts and 11 walks over 23.1 innings of work. Manfredi throws a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a traditional slider, a sweeper, a singer, and a changeup.
Martinez, 19, is listed as a shortstop—as many Latin American players are when they first sign with a team—but has mostly played second and third base with the Brewers’ Dominican Summer League and Arizona Complez League teams.
The 5’11” switch hitter from Cumuna, Venezuela was a member of the Brewers’ 2024 international signing class with a $125,000 signing bonus. Martinez enjoyed a breakout season with the ACL Brewers during the Arizona Complex League this year. He hit .356/.476/.599 with 12 doubles, a triple, six home runs, and 27 RBIs while also stealing 21 bases. Martinez also exhibited strong plate discipline with 28 walks to just 19 strikeouts.
Martinez was promoted to the Low-A Wilson Warbirds in early July, where he is currently hitting .209/.321/.269 with one double, one home run, and a 1:1 walk to strikeout ration with 11 each through his first 18 games.
