Last week, we did some speculating on who will man first base for the Colorado Rockies in 2026. In that discussion, however, we mostly considered internal options.
Tonight, let’s turn our attention to the
free-agent market, especially given that comments from Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta suggest the Rockies might be open to signing a free agent or two.
Per MLB.com, here are the remaining members of the 2025-2026 1B free agent class:
- Ryan O’Hearn (32, 4.6, 2 years @ $26 million)
- Carlos Santana (40, 4.6)
- Nathaniel Lowe (30, 2.6)
- Luis Arraez (29, 2.6, 2 years @ $24 million)
- Paul Goldschmidt (38, 1.9)
- Rhys Hoskins (22, 1.1)
- Justin Turner (41, 0.9)
- Donovan Solano (38, 0.7)
- Dominic Smith (31, 0.6)
- Ty France (31, 0.1)
- LaMonte Wade Jr (32, -0.2)
- Rowdy Tellez (31, -0.4)
- Tim Elko (27, -0.5)
- Wilmer Flores (34, -0.9)
- Lewis Díaz (29, N/A)
- Kazuma Okamoto (30, N/A, 4 years @ $64 million) — posted by NPB club on Nov. 21

Given the youth of the projected infield, it seems like first base may be a position where the Rockies look to veteran experience.
Who do you think they might sign?
