It’s the last fixture before the holiday rush as Chelsea travel north to the faraway lands of Newcastle upon Tyne, for a lunchtime joust against the local black and white stripes. Yes, it’s another Saturday lunchtime affair. Feels like we’ve had more than our fair share of these.
We will arrive on the sails of back-to-back wins — much needed back-to-back wins — though the winds remain a bit tenuous, especially with Enzo Maresca’s cryptic comments in the media, and the team’s general reluctance to perform
at the levels we know them capable of performing. Perhaps we’re just saving our powder for the festive festivities. (I’ll be there in person, so we better have some fun!)
The only new injury of note is Estêvão’s unspecified, but supposedly minor muscular problem, which caused him to miss Tuesday’s League Cup match against Cardiff City and will see him miss this trip as well. In better news, Moisés Caicedo is ready to feature in the league once again, having served his three-match ban.
