As the clock ticks down on what may be Sami Zayn’s final moments as the Undisputed WWE Champion, the good news is he may have company.
Raw General Manager Adam Pearce delivered his weekly show preview on Sunday, reminding fans that there’s not one but three titles on the line this Monday as WWE heads to Chicago’s Allstate Arena.
Matches
- Undisputed WWE Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
- WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Sol Ruca (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez
- World Tag Team Championship: Street Profits (c) vs. The Vision’s Austin Theory & Bron Breakker
Segments:
- Seth Rollins opens the show
- Oba Femi addresses his match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam inside Hell in a Cell
While most are focusing their attention on Zayn’s showdown with Rhodes, viewers should keep a watchful eye on the world tag team title match. Pundits are saying Austin Theory’s
stock is down after getting the cold shoulder from Paul Heyman last week on Raw.
Wrestling’s greatest advocate may have simply been overly amped up after Brock Lesnar delivered the promo of a lifetime, where he buried the product by reminding everyone he doesn’t watch the show before kicking King of the Ring winner Oba Femi in his crown jewels.
Or it could mean The Vision has run its course, and the next to walk away from Theory is Breakker.
Either way, Theory may want to get his eyes examined at the Illinois Eye Institute to check for any Vision problems before getting in the ring with a volatile partner.
With such a stacked episode of Raw coming to Chicago, it’s too bad WWE doesn’t have anyone famous from the Windy City on its roster who could pop in and help make what Pearce called “Championship Monday” feel more grand.
Oh, right. CM Punk. To paraphrase an observer with allegedly questionable (in)sight: he’ll probably be there, unless he isn’t — plans change.
Raw returns to Netflix in its normal time slot, Monday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT
