The Steelers are evaluating new safety talent following DeShon Elliott’s injury against the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh will be working out veteran safeties Eddie Jackson and Vonn Bell today, head coach Mike Tomlin said in his press conference Tuesday.
Jackson was a fourth-round pick in 2017 by the Chicago Bears. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2018 and made the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019.
He most recently spent the 2024 season
with the Ravens and Chargers, playing in 11 games, starting four. He logged 30 total tackles and one pass defensed.
Bell was drafted in the second round in 2016 by the Saints. After his time with the Saints, he’s spent four of the last five years with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Bell has 117 career starts, including 24 at free safety over the last two years. Last season with the Bengals, he recorded 55 total tackles, two passes defensed, and one interception.
