With Michigan losing linebackers Ernest Hausmann to retirement, Cole Sullivan to Oklahoma via the transfer portal, and Jaydon Hood also to the portal, Jay Hill and the Michigan defensive staff have begun
reaching out to available linebackers. Today, the Michigan staff set a visit date with one target while another high-profile target continued to take visits elsewhere.
Cal LB set to visit Ann Arbor this weekend
Per Chris Balas of The Wolverine, transfer linebacker Cade Uluave is set to visit Michigan on Saturday. Per 247Sports, Uluave is the top-rated linebacker available in the transfer portal. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker out of Herriman, Utah, has spent his first three collegiate seasons with Cal. In 2025, he registered 97 tackles (42 solo), four pass deflections, and three sacks.
Despite missing time in three contests this year, Uluave led the Golden Bears in tackles. He was also named a First-Team All-ACC performer in 2025.
Pitt LB visiting Texas following a visit to Michigan
The second-highest-rated linebacker currently in the portal is Pitt LB Rasheem Biles. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker visited Ann Arbor yesterday and is visiting the Texas Longhorns today. Originally out of Pickerington, Ohio, Biles attended the same high school as former Michigan edge rusher Taco Charlton as well as former Michigan basketball guard and current Detroit Piston, Caris LeVert.
Biles spent each of his first three seasons with the Pitt Panthers. In 2025, he tallied 85 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, and two pick-sixes. He was named Second-Team All-ACC. It appears that his transfer portal recruitment is a two-horse race between Michigan and Texas at this point in time.
