We made it folks. Another season just about in the books with just one page left to write. The A’s have one last game left in 2025 and they’re set to wrap up the season in Sacramento against the Kansas
City Royals.
The A’s will go with an opener today as left-handed Brady Basso gets the start for what’ll be his 11th appearance of the year and first starting assignment. No one should expect him to go five innings today as he’s only expected to be an opener, but Basso’s done well in his limited time with the A’s after missing most of the year to injury. It’d be a nice way to head into the offseason for him if he could wrap the season for the A’s on a high note.
The A’s lineup for the final game of the season shakes out like this:
The Royals will counter Basso with lefty Cole Ragans. The Royals starter has limped to a 5.02 ERA this season and has missed a couple months due to injury. It’s been a disappointing follow up to last season, when he was an All-Star and finished fourth in AL Cy Young voting. He’s been vulnerable on the mound this year but he has the ability to lock down an opposing offense if they’re not ready for him.
Kansas City’s lineup for the final game of the year:
An even .500 record is out of reach for the A’s, but they could doom the Royals to an even 81-81 record for the offseason with a win today so that’s some motivation for the Green & Gold. For the final time of the 2025 season, let’s go A’s!
