According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the list of suitors for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is growing, as his contract is set to expire in the summer. Liverpool FC had seemed to be nailed
on to sign him this past summer, but the transfer collapsed as Palace manager Oliver Glasner reportedly halted the deal.
Now, Plettenberg reports on a growing list of suitors from the continent:
“Liverpool are still giving everything to sign Marc Guéhi on a free transfer next summer, with ongoing talks taking place. The Reds are very concrete in their interest — as are Barcelona.”
“Guéhi are also waiting to see whether Real Madrid make a move.”
“Max Eberl have also expressed concrete interest on the player’s side in case either Dayot Upamecano or Min-jae Kim were to leave.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid being interested in free transfers? You don’t say!
I’m not going to cry about a player who never put on a shirt for us, but should Liverpool miss out on the player, the unintended consequences could be severe. With Ibrahima Konaté’s future up in the air, and Joe Gomez having already looking like he was ready to move on in back-to-back summer windows, Liverpool could be looking at signing as many as three centre-backs next summer should they also miss out on Marc Guehi. That’s… certainly something to consider, especially with the amount of upheaval that’s already taken place this past summer.
