Washington kicked off the season with a 38-21 victory over Colorado State Saturday evening. You have questions, I have answers, so let’s get things rolling with our first mailbag of the season.
In case you missed the game, Washington’s star offensive trio had notable performances. Quarterback Demond Williams threw for 226 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-24 attempts; he also rushed for 68 yards on 13 carries. His lone touchdown pass was to Denzel Boston, who finished with five catches for 92 yards and the score
on a one-handed grab. Meanwhile, Jonah Coleman left a path of battered Rams in his wake, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Boston’s play would’ve been the most viral of the evening, if not for Coleman putting social media on notice as he sprinted through CSU’s defense with a mix of speed and power to set up his second touchdown.
Defensively, things could’ve gone better for the Huskies, but an errant snap on offense helped Colorado State find momentum. The Rams saw all of their offensive momentum snapped in the third quarter when Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi got aggressive and was picked off by Makell Esteen.
Washington now shifts its focus to hosting UC Davis on Saturday.
See you all on the other side.
