As we come into the last stretch of the 2025 Notre Dame football schedule, a lot of people have been talking about and asking about Notre Dame’s 2026 slate. If you searched it right now, Notre Dame’s schedule looks
like this:
If you are good at math, you’ll notice that there are only 10 games scheduled there with only 4 games in South Bend. That, however, isn’t the reality behind the scenes.
On the most recent Irish Illustrated Podcast, they provided some clarity as to what we will actually see next season — which will be 6 home games, 3 away games, and 3 neutral site games. It breaks down like this:
DATED GAMES
9/6 vs Wisconsin @ Lambeau (Shamrock Series)
9/12 vs Rice
9/19 vs Michigan State
9/26 @ Purdue
10/3 @ North Carolina
10/ 31 VS Navy @ Foxborough
UNDATED HOME GAMES
Stanford
SMU
Miami (FL)
Boston College
UNDATED AWAY GAMES
Syracuse
UNDATED NEUTRAL SITE GAMES
USC @ (TBD)
A few things…
According to some rumors and notes by Florida State insiders, the FSU game in Tallahassee will be cancelled for 2026. That move likely created the space for Boston College to come to South Bend. The home Stanford game is not a part of the ACC agreement, and without that designation the Irish have the target number of 5 ACC games.
It sounds like Notre Dame and USC WILL play next season, but it will be at a neutral site instead of L.A. which probably opens the door for a neutral site game in 2027 against the Trojans — a game that will likely be a Shamrock Series edition.
The schedule will be a 6-3-3 model, and honestly, it’s a schedule that Notre Dame can use quite well for another run at the college football playoff.
