The Seattle Seahawks will have one more 10 am PT game to play this season.
One week after their highly anticipated Thursday Night Football rematch with the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle will take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Dec. 28 on CBS. It’ll likely have the lead crew of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call.
NFL Network will have the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers at 4:30 pm ET/1:30 pm PT. The Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers will get prime-time billing on Peacock at 8 pm ET/5
pm PT, which feels like a huge gamble given the Ravens are in significant playoff peril and could be mathematically eliminated by then.
Seahawks vs. Panthers was one of five Week 17 games eligible to flexed to a Saturday slot, and the combination of the Seahawks being one of the top teams in the NFL and the Panthers playing more than well enough to make a push for the NFC South title meant that at least it will get some Sunday morning shine, but not a national audience.
This will be Seattle’s first meeting with the Panthers in Charlotte since the 2019 season, when the Seahawks held a 30-10 lead and in true 2019 fashion, tried to squander the whole thing in the 4th quarter. A Russell Wilson 3rd and long conversion to Tyler Lockett in the final minutes secured a 30-24 victory over a Panthers team playing Kyle Allen at quarterback. The last Seahawks vs. Panthers showdown was in 2023, when Seattle won 37-27 and Andy Dalton had to start for the injured Bryce Young. Unless something happens over the next two weeks, the Seahawks are on course for their first matchup against Young, while Darnold will play against the team he started for in 2021 and 2022.
At 7-6, the Panthers wouldn’t be close to a Wild Card berth, but the collapse of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers means they’re tied for the division lead in the NFC South. Those sides will play each other in Weeks 16 and 18.
