In the first leg in a pair of duals in Oklahoma, the Cyclones visit Norman, Oklahoma, to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. Due to the lack of offerings in the SEC, the Sooners remain in the Big 12 for wrestling
and are currently ranked No. 21 in the country.
125: No. 13 Poulin ISU versus No. 26 Hendriksen OU
While ESPN+ had some technical difficulties at the beginning of this match, Stevo was in control from the start. An early takedown in the first period, along with a ride out in the third period, demonstrated how Stevo can have complete control without the 5-1 decision making it clear.

133: Meza ISU versus Schmidt OU
With Evan Frost under the weather, redshirt freshman Adrian Meza gets the start. Receiving few opportunities so far, Meza put up a very entertaining performance over Oklahoma starter Carter Schmidt. Down 5-3 entering the third, Meza scored a reversal early and thwarted all of Schmidt’s escape attempts to secure the deciding riding time point.

141: No. 3 Echemendia ISU versus Charmoli OU
Tyson Charmoli was always going to have an uphill battle against the third ranked wrestler in the country at 141, only compounded by the fact he was wrestling up a weight. One of the safest bets of the night, Anthony Echemendia won by tech fall 20-4 in 6:21.

149: No. 6 J. Frost ISU versus Hollingsworth OU
After the first period ended in a 0-0 stalemate and both wrestlers receiving stall calls, Jacob found his rhythm in the second period, dominating to an 11-1 lead with two take downs and four back points. Frost secured the riding time point to secure an 12-2 major decision and would’ve had the energy in the tank to wrestle for five additional minutes after the match was over.

157: No. 8 Zerban ISU versus Schneider OU
Vinny Zerban snatched a takedown just five seconds into bout, but he found himself in danger as Hunter Schneider rode out the second period. 165: No. 16 Euton ISU versus No. 32 Kellar OU

174: No. 13 Gaitan ISU versus No. 8 Schubert OU
As one of the marquee matchup of the night, this was one of the only bouts that had the Sooner favored. While his headgear did come off twice, Schubert was able to control the second period with nearly two minutes of riding time and a takedown. While Gaitan took shots throughout the third period, he was not be able to find the tying takedown as Schubert secured the first win in the dual for the Sooners with a 5-1 decision.

184: No. 12 Dean ISU versus No. 10 Soldano OU
Two incoming transfers for both programs, Rider and Rutgers respectively, this would be another bout to keep an eye on entering the day. 1-1 entering the final minute, sparks flew as a tussle found both wrestlers in positions for a takedown but no points were awarded after a review. Thirty seconds into sudden victory, Brian Soldano found the take down to secure a 4-1 decision.
24-6 Cyclones after 8
197: Carter ISU versus No. 11 Parker OU
With Rocky Elam taking the night off, CJ Carter got the start against a formidable opponent in DJ Parker (CJ versus DJ made it an odd one to listen to). CJ put up some formidable defence throughout most of the first period, but a last second takedown was confirmed by review. While the score may not reflect it, the bout was controlled by Parker from that point on as he wins 8-0 and gives the Sooners their third straight win and their first bonus points.
24-10 Cyclones after 9
285: No. 1 Bastida ISU versus Hill OU
With his first takedown at 1:45 into the first period, that was one of the longer waits for Bastida in recent memory. The dam broke at that point, as a stall warning toward Hill gave the top ranked heavy weight the green light to move all in. Needing just one takedown in the third, Bastida recorded his tenth tech fall of the season, 19-4 in 5:12.
