The Free Hit chip is one of FPL’s four special chips, alongside the Wildcard, Triple Captain, and Bench Boost.
It lets managers make unlimited transfers for one Gameweek, creating a temporary squad just
for that round.
The chip can be used only once per season, and after the Gameweek ends, your squad automatically reverts to how it was before the deadline.
The Free Hit chip is especially useful during Double Gameweeks, where certain teams play twice, allowing managers to maximise points with a temporary squad.
It can also be valuable when your team suffers from multiple short-term injuries or suspensions.
Since GW12 comes right after the international break, using a Free Hit may be wise if your players return with fatigue or minor injuries.
My Free Hit team features players from nine different clubs, giving me a wide spread of fixtures and reducing the risk of relying too heavily on any single team.
I’ve also chosen to triple up on Aston Villa, with three of their key players included.
Villa deserve this level of investment—they have climbed into 6th place after a difficult start to the season and are currently one of the most in-form teams in the league.
Their strong defensive structure and consistent attacking output make them an ideal team to target for this Gameweek, especially with a favourable fixture.
In midfield, my selections come from four different clubs, giving me a good mix of safety and explosive potential.
Saka is my fixture-proof premium pick from Arsenal—he’s on penalties, central to their attack, and can deliver even in a derby.
Garnacho offers strong upside against a vulnerable Burnley side, making him an ideal high-ceiling differential.
Rogers provides targeted value by exploiting Leeds’ defensive weaknesses, while Mbeumo gives me Brentford’s most reliable attacking threat in a favourable home match against Everton.
Up front, I continue to diversify with three forwards from three different clubs.
Thiago is included for his strong form and a very appealing matchup against Brighton’s leaky back line.
Welbeck acts as a smart Brighton differential, especially at home where he tends to perform well, and Brentford’s away defence makes the fixture even more attractive.
Haaland serves as my Manchester City coverage and the clear captain choice—his combination of a high floor, big-game scoring ability, and massive effective ownership makes him essential even in a tougher fixture.
By building my squad across nine clubs while focusing on Villa’s excellent form, I aim to maximise upside from strong teams without exposing myself to volatility from any single match.
This approach helps create a balanced, high-potential Free Hit lineup.
