Good morning, baseball fans!
Another week of San Francisco Giants baseball comes to a close today, which means it’s time to pick our favorite highlights of the week!
For once, I can say we were blessed with an abundance of options this week. But after Thursday night’s game, really, was there any option other than Jung Hoo Lee’s inside-the-park home run? Absolutely not.
If you know anything about me, you know that my absolute favorite things are the oddities of baseball that do not happen very often.
It’s a huge reason why I was adamantly against adding the DH to the National League. I loved seeing pitchers come up with big hits (or at least timely hits) because it was fairly rare.
Which is exactly why I love inside-the-park home runs. Sure, they aren’t always a good thing. Angel Pagan’s knees never really recovered from his, despite it being an absolutely glorious accomplishment. But they are always a sight to see, and Jung Hoo Lee got to do it against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Which you absolutely love to see.
And sure, the Giants went on to lose that game (Brandon Belt would be proud), but that doesn’t take away from Lee’s impressive feat and I think it’s worthy of being this week’s highlight of the week, at least for me.
What were your favorite highlights of the week?
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants wrap up this three-game series against the Athletics this afternoon at 1:05 p.m. PT in Sacramento.
