All of 24 hours after the summer transfer window closed in Serie A, Juventus’ squad list for the league phase of their adventure in the Europa League was released, giving us a hint that there could still be a couple of outgoing players as well as how much time those who are currently injured with longer-term ailments may miss.
The most notable names not on the squad list that was released on Wednesday evening are certainly midfielder Khephren Thuram and winger Edon Zhegrova — although they are very
much for different reasons. Thuram, as we know, is injured and reportedly set to undergo surgery within the next few days to repair the knee problem that has been bothering him since the spring. Zhegorva, meanwhile, has had his own fitness issues ever since he arrived at Juventus last summer, but it looks now more than ever that he could be on the way out with some smaller leagues still having their transfer windows open for another few days.
Also out of the Europa League league phase squad list are: Daniele Rugani, Arek Milik and Jeff Ekhator, the latter who is also dealing with a long-term injury that will likely keep him out for the next couple of months.
Maybe surprisingly is the one inclusion of a player who could have very well been excluded along with the others: Juan Cabal, who was a player who could have moved on Deadline Day only to see a potential move to Atalanta never materialize even though he reportedly gave his approval to move to Bergamo.

Remember, Kenan Yildiz can be on List B because he is a homegrown player and born after 2005, thus creating a spot for somebody else to be on List A. Considering all the players who were added this summer by new CEO Giovanni Carnevali and his right-hand man Riccardo Massara, that definitely came in handy.
But these are the players Juve manager Luciano Spalletti will have to roll with to try and get his squad to finish as high as possible in the league phase, avoid the play-off round and not add two extra fixtures to an already busy schedule and then get a favorable draw for the beginning of the knockout rounds. Not all players on the squad list will actually be available for the opening parts of the league phase — most notably Yildiz, who is out until November after undergoing surgery for a broken bone in his left foot.
Every summer signing sans the injured Ekhator is on there. And now we get to see what they can all do in Europe … albeit not the big European competition we all know the clubs desperately needs to get back into next season.
