The UFC’s return to the APEX has its main event.
MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck confirmed sources with knowledge of the matchup that streaking featherweight contenders Steve Garcia (18-5) and David Onama (14-2) have verbally agreed to headline UFC Vegas 110 on Nov. 1. The fight was first reported by Eurosport.
This is a huge opportunity for both fighters, with Garcia having racked up six straight wins, including a decision over veteran Calvin Kattar at UFC Nashville. Prior to going to the scorecards against
Kattar, Garcia had knocked out five straight opponents.
Onama is still working on finding his footing at 145 pounds with one weight miss on his record and a 155-pound bout this past November, but “Silent Assassin” has continued to deliver in the cage. Most recently, he successfully made the featherweight limit and went on to score a unanimous decision win over Giga Chikadze in April.
Garcia is currently No. 14 in the stacked featherweight division in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Onama just on the outside looking to take that spot.
