Trying to hit against Chris Sale sometimes seems like trying to to catch a chainsaw, so the Dodgers will have their work cut out for them. But they’ll also have reliable ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Yamamoto started four games and pitched once in relief on the road over the last two postseasons, with five total runs allowed in 31 innings, with 30 strikeouts against only four walks. The Dodgers won all five games with Yamamoto earning
the win in all four of his road appearances during the 2025 postseasons.
Then again, the Dodgers are 9-1 in the 10 postseason games in which Yamamoto has appeared, with the only loss coming in last year’s NLDS Game 3 at Dodger Stadium. That was with the Dodgers already leading the series 2-0, while his start on Tuesday comes in a 1-1 series.
Let’s look back at every other Game 3 for the Dodgers in a tied series during their consecutive postseason run dating back to 2013. This is the ninth time in 14 years the Dodgers best-of-five Division Series is tied after two games. The home team in those NLDS Games 3 is 6-2, and the winner of Game 3 won four of the eight series.
