Most Bayern Munich fans know who David Alaba is: a talented left-back with deadly freekicks, versatility, and uh *checks notes a money hungry agent who drew the ire of the club. He then swapped Munich red for Madrid white in 2021 after 12 years with the club. After an unsuccessful period in Spain, it looks like he’s off to the next chapter of his career.
Tz reports that Los Blancos decided against extending his contract (due to his unavailability brought upon by recurring injuries) and thus he will
be leaving at the end of the season. Rumor has it that MLS clubs are interested in bringing the four-time Champions League winner to the States.
Should the 33-year-old Austrian make the transcontinental transfer, he joins Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Müller on the list of Bayern players who ended up in America (and Canada). He will show the crowds what to expect when he suits up (if he suits up?) for Austria at the World Cup.
He’s the reason why I supported Bayern and given my disdain for Real Madrid, it was bitter seeing him make the switch in 2021. Now though, I hope he can have one last shot at glory before hanging up his boots.
