Jamal Musiala is slowly showing signs of being back at his best in his recent run of games for Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old came off a horrible injury after a nasty tackle by Gianluigi Donnarumma when Bayern took on Paris Saint-Germain in the recent Club World Cup. Club patriarch Uli Hoeneß remembers it all too well.
“That was one of the most serious injuries you can get,” the 74-year-old began (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “When I saw that brutal foul by Donnarumma – and he can’t say
he didn’t mean to do it – it was utter madness, going in like that on the edge of the penalty area with his 110 kilos. The joint popped out of its socket. Our doctor, Dr. Jochen Hahne, put the joint back in place right there on the pitch. It’s a very difficult injury. That’s why it takes so long. We just have to hope that the cartilage regenerates and that there’ll be no pain.”
Musiala had to sit out half a season and even suffered a minor injury aggravation, but now he’s back and he’s making a positive impression on his return to the top level (of playing).
