FSU, after starting the year 3-0, is now 3-4 heading into its second bye week of the season.
Florida State’s latest loss, its fourth straight on the season and ninth straight in ACC play, came at the hands of the Stanford Cardinal (3-4, 2-2 ACC) whose only previous conference win came against the 1-6 Boston College Eagles.
“I didn’t have them ready to play tonight,” head coach Mike Norvell, now 20-24 in ACC play, said to media after the game. “We had 13 penalties tonight. Multiple missed opportunities.
And that all goes on me. We made this trip and what we just watched was not anything towards what we invest and work and pour our time into.”
For the second straight year, Norvell is now searching for answers as he tries to get the season back on track.
“I’m pouring everything I have into this university with every bit of the work, the focus, the absolute edge and urgency to get this better,” he said after the game. “At the end of the day, it’s about the on-the-field results. And we’ve come up short. And we’ve not done anywhere near a good enough job — to be able to finish games, to do things and for it to look the way that I want it to look.”
