The CFB26 Rebels are 2-3 coming off their win against LSU and their bye week. THANK GOD that is not the real life scenario.
While EA Sports is only batting .400 in this simulated season of Ole Miss Rebel
football, I would imagine it would be difficult to get this week wrong (although they simulated an opening loss to Georgia State).
Still no Trinidad Chambliss and EA has yet to get the memo on how good Kewan Lacy and Deuce Alexander are. Anywho, its just Wazzu so it should be a breeze right?!
Game Flow
Leave it to Austin Simmons to start the game slow for the sixth straight game, throwing an interception on the first drive. He did respond on the following drive for the Rebs with a touchdown pass to Cayden Lee.
The defense was super stingy, shutting the Cougars out in the first quarter thanks to an interception by Kapena Gushiken. In fact, the landshark defense held Washington State to just a field goal in the first half. The offense continue to sputter, only mustering a field goal of their own, entering the half with a 10-3 lead.
Two touchdown passes from Simmons in the third quarter saw the Rebel lead jump to 21 points. Dae’Quan Wright and De’Zhaun Stribling were the beneficiaries of those scoring strikes. The Cougars managed to score their first touchdown at the end of the third quarter thanks to running back Leo Pulalasi.
Ole Miss started the fourth quarter with another touchdown pass from Simmons to Lee, allowing the Rebs to reclaim their three touchdown lead. From there it was all about the running backs on both sides. Pulalasi did manage to score once more while Logan Diggs helped bleed the clock out averaging 7.5 yards per carry on 14 carries.
Final Score: Ole Miss 31 Washington State 17
Story of the Stats
The aforementioned Diggs finished with 105 yards on 14 carries with 60 of those yards coming after contact.
It seemed as if the Cougar defense planned to take away the explosive plays as no pass went beyond 19 yards for Ole Miss. Lee, Wright and Trey Wallace all had over 5 receptions but Lee led the way with just 69 yards.
Da’Shawn Womack had the only two sacks for Ole Miss.
Simmons finished with 220 yards, only completing 52% of his passes. Luckily it was against a bad team.
