Gameweek 27 gave us plenty to think about. Arsenal delivered a big statement win in the North London Derby, Manchester City kept the pressure on in the title race, and Liverpool secured another narrow but important victory.
At the same time, Chelsea dropped points again, while a few unexpected performers stepped up and made an impact for managers who overlooked them.
With only 11 gameweeks remaining, every decision now matters more than ever. Form, fixtures, and smart captaincy choices could define
the final stretch of the season.
This is the time to stay focused and make calculated moves.
My objective is still clear. A top-five finish in my mini-league is the target, and with only a few gameweeks left, every decision I make now will play a big part in whether I achieve it.
GW28 Preview
Here’s how my team is shaping up for Gameweek 28.
Gameweek 28 starts with Emiliano Martinez away to Wolves, and I feel confident about that fixture. Wolves have struggled in front of goal this season, so this looks like a good chance for a clean sheet.
Even if Villa concede, Martinez usually makes enough saves to still bring in points, which gives me some comfort.
In defence, I’ve doubled up on Villa with Matty Cash alongside Martinez. It is always a bit risky trusting one defence, but the fixture looks good enough for me to back it.
James Tarkowski has a tougher game away to Newcastle, but I’m still relying on him even though he hasn’t been consistent in recent weeks.
Gabriel Magalhaes plays at home to Chelsea. It will not be easy, but there is still potential for returns.
My midfield feels balanced. Morgan Rogers completes the Villa triple up and could benefit if they perform well. Rayan Cherki away to Leeds United is an exciting pick and should be involved in attacking moves.
Harry Wilson at home to Tottenham Hotspur looks like a good chance for points. Enzo Fernandez has the hardest fixture away to Arsenal, so I’m not expecting too much, but sometimes big games can surprise us.
Up front is where most of my hope is. Erling Haaland is my captain away to Leeds, and he feels like the safest option for big points.
Hugo Ekitike at home to WestHam United also has a strong fixture. Igor Thiago away to Burnley completes my attack, and that game could bring chances as well.
What do you think of my lineup this week, and how confident are you in your own team’s chances? I’d love to hear your opinion in the comments.
