AEW Dynamite (and Collision!) airs tonight (Sept. 23) with a live show emanating from Fishers Event Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the final episode of Dynamite during the four week build to All Out, which takes place on Saturday (Sept. 26) in Chicago.
Ricochet is trying his best to ruin the hottest new thing in AEW
AEW’s All Out pay-per-view takes place on Saturday night instead of AEW Collision, so Tony Khan is tacking an hour of Collision onto the end of tonight’s Dynamite for a 3 hour block of programming. Given the fact that Khan can’t help himself
with absurdly long overruns each week, it will probably be closer to 3.5 hours of AEW programming tonight. It sounds exhausting just typing that sentence out, especially knowing there are probably five more hours of AEW content planned for Saturday night.
The biggest attraction on tonight’s card is Swerve Strickland and New Level defending the AEW world trios championship against Ricochet & Gates of Agony aka The Demand. Kofi and Austin Creed debuted in AEW less than one month ago and are the hottest new act in the company as the trios champs, but of course Ricochet is a douchebag heel who is trying to ruin all of that just days ahead of All Out.
Hangman Page and Brodido are challenging for these belts at the PPV, so whichever team walks out with the gold tonight doesn’t get much time to celebrate and breathe a sigh of relief. It’s hard to imagine that Tony Khan wants to erase New Level and Swerve’s momentum by taking the belts off them tonight and keeping them off this weekend’s pay-per-view, but I suppose stranger things have happened in pro wrestling.
Will New Level & Swerve slip up tonight and already lose their championship to Ricochet’s faction? Will Hangman’s crew show up afterwards to confront the winning side? Tune into over three hours of AEW programming tonight to find out.
The rest of the card
AEW World Champion Will Ospreay was on the losing side of a trios match against the Death Riders last week, and he’s back at it again tonight in a tag team match versus the same faction. This time it’s Ospreay & “Speedball” Mike Bailey taking on Claudio Castagnoli and Gabe Kidd. AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley is back in kill mode now that he’s getting a shot at Ospreay’s title in the main event of All Out, and there will be collateral damage as a result. Last week’s victim was Francesco Akira, and it looks like Speedball is in that same position tonight. Does Ospreay have backup from AEW National Champion Andrade just in case things go south? Andrade is defending his title at All Out against PAC and wants revenge after a recent Death Rider beatdown, so he has plenty of reasons to take off his pants and run in tonight. Jay White’s Bang Bang Gang are taking on the Dogs and remaining Death Riders on the All Out pre-show, so they may get involved as well if things really get out of hand.
TBS Champion Persephone puts her belt on the line tonight against Hyan. It looks like an obvious win for the champ on paper. Will there be post-match fisticuffs involving some combination of Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, and Hikaru Shida that sets up another title match this weekend at All Out?
Renee Paquette is interviewing Divine Dominion and AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Brawling Birds tonight, ahead of their championship Street Fight at All Out. The heel challengers have defeated the babyface champs in two separate singles matches this month during the PPV build, which probably means the babyfaces are going over on Saturday. Will there be a no contact rule in place tonight to keep Renee out of danger, or is the idea to have a wild pull apart brawl to whet the appetite for all the chaos that’s coming in the street fight at All Out?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Mone isn’t cleared to compete after suffering a broken nose. In the meantime, former champions Willow Nightingale and Thekla will do battle at All Out to see who gets to challenge The CEO for the belt next month at WrestleDream. After the last few weeks of trash talking dumb bitches, is it time for Thekla and Willow to punch each other in the face tonight?
– AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada’s shit-eating grin is gone now that he has to defend his belt against Tommaso Ciampa at All Out. Does that mean the other 601 members of the Don Callis Family will be taken out by the Psycho Killer during the course of tonight’s 3+ hour block of AEW programming?
– 55-year-old Chris Jericho got the win over 21-year-old Nick Wayne last week after pulling off his puka shell necklace. Wayne got violent after the match and laid out the old man. What kind of gimmick or stipulation is this leading to for their inevitable rematch?
– Last week, FTR returned to competition in AEW for the first time in months, but they lost. One week before that, the Young Bucks lost on Dynamite. These two losing teams are challenging AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the gold at All Out in a 3-way Ladder match (that will also probably include Tables and Chairs). Will the old men champs complete the circle tonight by also losing before the PPV, or will Tony Khan instead book FTR and the Bucks in separate matches where they get back in the winners column?
– Sting’s son Steven Borden is very green and that stands out in AEW, where Tony Khan claims the best wrestle. Even so, Borden has won his first two matches on Dynamite and is already close to his first title match. All he has to do is team up with Darby Allin at All Out and beat the duo of Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight, in a match where the winning team earns a future shot at the AEW world tag team championship. Does that Callis Family have a booby trap planned for Darby and Borden on the eve of the PPV?
– Jack Perry has a death wish and called out Samoa Joe to return to AEW and fight him. Before Joe kills this fool, Perry gets a tune up match on the All Out pre-show against Katsuyori Shibata. Will we find out tonight when Joe is officially returning to AEW?
– Where the f*** is Max Caster? He has not wrestled on AEW programming in 2026.
