Last fall, when Bayern Munich was unsure if it would be able to sign center-back Dayot Upamecano to a contract extension, the club was linked to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
Ultimately, Bayern Munich got a deal done with Upamecano and the Konaté rumors were pushed off to the wayside.
Now, with Konaté being a free agent, the Bavarians could be looking to rekindle that old flame. Per L’Equipe journalist Hugo Delom, both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have kept in contact with Konaté‘s camp, while
Chelsea is also looking to get involved:
Real Madrid and Bayern have maintained contact with Ibrahima Konaté, who is set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer, and which made him reconsider his future. Chelsea and Xabi Alonso are also looking to make a move for the Frenchman. Konaté’s future is not expected to be sorted before the World Cup.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is no going back to Liverpool for Konaté:

After advanced talks to stay with fresh deal and confirmation from the player in April, Konaté leaves as no final agreement has been found.

Real Madrid were keen on Konaté but left talks before Christmas to respect Liverpool; now Konaté is free to decide his next club without #LFC involved.
The potential roadblock for Bayern Munich is that it has been reported that the club will not add another center-back unless there is a sale of Kim Min-jae, Hiroki Itō, or both. Selling Kim will be very difficult given his salary and Itō’s recent injury history could cause some clubs to balk.
