We’ll have more on the World Series in the coming days, but in the meantime here is a palate cleanser of sorts for a Sunday morning.
Greg Beacham at Associated Press had more on the Dodgers from Friday’s
pennant celebration, including this from Blake Snell: “This is why I came here. Now we’re in the World Series, so I can’t wait to prove myself what I can do there.”
Speaking of Snell, he tops all major league players this postseason in Win Probability Added, thanks to his two runs allowed in 21 innings over three starts, with 28 strikeouts. Brad Doolittle at ESPN has more on October’s WPA leaders, including a few other Dodgers as well.
“What detractors ignore is how the Dodgers aren’t the only team that spent big dollars this year to chase a title,” wrote Dylan Hernández at the Los Angeles Times. “It’s how they spend that separates them from other franchises.”

They’re preserving its mystery,” Joshua Rodrigues wrote this week at Baseball Prospectus. “And in a playoff environment where familiarity erodes advantage faster than fatigue does, that’s one of the most valuable forms of protection a team can have.”
The Dodgers don’t have any pending free agents who are likely to receive the qualifying offer this year, but for those who do, the salary for a qualifying offer — which is the average of the top 125 salaries each season — will be $22.025 million this season, per Associated Press. That’s up from $21.05 million last year.
