Bayern Munich star winger Luis Díaz did not have his best game in his squad’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League at the Bernabéu.
The Colombian, however, did open up the scoring with the first half goal and run himself into the ground trying to help the team defend.
It was a valiant, but tiring effort. That said, Díaz wanted to make sure that everyone understands one thing following the victory — Bayern Munich knows that Real Madrid has much more to offer and that this tie is far
from over.
“This was a challenging match. Madrid are strong at home. We had a good game plan and executed it pretty well, especially in the first half. Both sides had more scoring chances and if we had converted one of ours we’d have headed home feeling much more comfortable about our advantage. We need to pay full attention and be super-ready for what’s to come next week,” Díaz said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
This is the exact mindset that Bayern Munich needs. Real Madrid was potent and close — on many occasions — to knotting the game. The Bavarians know that Real Madrid will be desperate next week and noting short of a superb effort will enough to advance in the the tournament.
