If we are being honest, RB Nick Chubb is among just a handful of players that almost no one connected to the Cleveland Browns can be logical about, and that is okay. A big part of sports is the emotion that goes into it. Whether it is fans in the stands, those who read anything and everything about their favorite team, or the players showing heart on the field, passion drives sports.
Chubb created all that emotion without ever showing much of it himself.
Last offseason, it seemed a return to the Browns
was possible. Then, Cleveland drafted RBs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson while retaining RB Jerome Ford. Chubb then signed with the Houston Texans but noted “this isn’t goodbye” when posting about his departure from the team. Chubb was so beloved that Browns ownership issued a statement about his departure.
With the Texans, Chubb rushed for 506 yards, three touchdowns, and 4.1 yards per carry.
Is it possible that Chubb’s “this isn’t goodbye” predicted the future?
In a short social media video posted in the very early hours of Wednesday morning, done by the same company that produced many of Chubb’s Batman-related content, the former Cleveland star is shown multiple times working out in Browns facilities, in Cleveland gear, with the final shot of Chubb walking out onto the field in Browns gear holding a flag with Jim Brown’s number on it:
None of the material seems to include any time from Chubb in Houston, but it does show some clips at the Georgia Bulldogs facilities.
The video could be nothing more than JOC films putting out clips as their Instagram bio notes “In production: The @nickchubb27 Documentary (with a bat emoji). According to their website, JOC stands for the last name of the three founders: filmmakers Nathan Jones and Randy Olson, along with Chubb.
For Browns fans, the final visual of him walking onto the field wearing the Cleveland uniform is likely to get their hopes up. At this point, the Browns lost Ford in free agency and have not signed a running back to replace him. Along with Judkins (returning from injury) and Sampson, Raheim Sanders was added as a rookie depth piece at the position last year and remains on the roster.
Chubb could replace Ford as Cleveland’s trusted veteran as a pass protector and have a shot to say hello, again, to Browns fans after saying “this isn’t goodbye” last year.
Do you think this video is hinting towards a return for Chubb to the Browns, or is it just a video to hype the documentary?
