Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is officially inactive for Pittsburgh’s Week 1 contest against the Atlanta Falcons. It was reported earlier in the day that Porter was unlikely to play, and now that has come to fruition.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Pittsburgh has now grown open to a potential trade involving the former second-round pick.
“The Steelers have been open to listening to offers for Porter,” Schefter and Rapoport report. “But there has not been notable
interest at Pittsburgh’s asking price of a premium draft pick — possibly in the first round — and no serious trade talks have developed despite the Steelers’ willingness to deal him.”
Porter’s absence will slot Asante Samuel Jr. into a starting role opposite Jamel Dean.
