Barcelona midfielder Gavi has sent out a defiant message to fans in the wake of the team’s Copa del Rey exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
Gavi is closing in on his long-awaited return from knee surgery and is ready to help Hansi Flick’s side fight for titles in the coming months.
He posted on Instagram: “Playing like we did yesterday and with fans like this behind us, we’re going to fight for everything that’s left, have no doubt about it.”
Gavi will be hoping to be given the green light to return
to action shortly as he’s been back in training with the first team for a little while now.
Hansi Flick did speak about the midfielder recently but didn’t give too much away about a potential return date.
“We will take it step by step (with Gavi). In this situation it is very important to manage it step by step. In addition, he is always very involved and, with the ball, he almost always makes the best of decisions,” he told reporters.
“He enjoys playing football, not only because of his mentality, but also because of his technique and quality. I hope he will be back very soon. But, step by step. We will be working every day. Everyone who is helping him is doing a fantastic job.”
