I have to say this is truly a miracle this wasn’t screwed up. Morgan Freeman will be the guest picker on ESPN’s College Gameday when it is live in Oxford for Ole Miss-LSU.
It’s not Jelly Roll or someone with a sitcom to push with no connection to Ole Miss. It’s the voice that everyone wants to narrate the story of their life. Morgan gosh damn Freeman.
Freeman was born in Memphis, Tenn. but began
life as an infant in Charleston, Miss. with stints of living in Greenwood, Miss., and he has become a fixture at Ole Miss basketball games later in his life.He also owns and operates the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Miss.
His filmography covers some of the greatest movies of the last fifty years including Driving Miss Daisy, Shawshank Redemption, Lean on Me and Million Dollar Baby among dozens of others. His list of awards is ridiculously long and includes an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and lifetime achievement awards along with honorary degrees from Rhodes College, Brown and Boston University.
Now the juxtaposition of Pat Mcafee and Freeman could not be more different, and it will be must see TV or must see in-person from the Grove. Well done to whoever made this happen as a truly great representation of Mississippi and the Ole Miss fanbase will be the guest for ESPN on its flagship college football show.
