The Las Vegas Raiders’ defense has had its struggles this season and the rookie class, overall, has been somewhat quiet.
But two Raiders’ rookie defenders have found a way to make an impact.
According to the Raiders’ public relations department, rookie safety Treydan Stukes and cornerback Zeke Massses have combined for 10 passes defensed. Masses, a former starter and now backup, has seven pass breakups and Stukes, a season-long starter, has three. They each had one Sunday against the New York Jets.
The nine passes defensed is the most by a Raiders’ rookie class through the first eight games of a season for the franchise since 2000. Also, the Raiders’ rookie class is the eighth NFL team since 2010 to have a draft class with four interception and 10 pass breakups since 2010.
That’s solid work.
