He rebounded nicely tonight (June 24), winning his match with New Japan’s El Phantasmo and escaping his run-in with his Owen Hart Cup finals opponent Swerve Strickland not too much worse for wear (better than we can say for Daniel Garcia, but more on that in a moment).
Things weren’t going to plan for Will Ospreay when the last Dynamite before AEW’s Forbidden Door PPV with NJPW, CMLL & Stardom this Sunday, however. Ospreay was taking part in his new mentor and former attempted murderer Jon Moxley’s
pre-game ritual with his Death Riders. He’s known for his agility, but Bruv backed into a metal tub that’s sitting in whatever corner of the Rio Rancho Events Center AEW production chose to film this. He ends up sitting next to the tub and laughing at himself. Mox just shakes his head, Marina Shafir helps him up, and then he and Garcia share a smirk before Will composes himself and the segment ends.
Hey, it happens to the best of us (and also folks like me). At least he’s friends with those guys (and gal) that tried to kill him repeatedly last year…
Ospreay didn’t let it slow him down, though. Not only did he repost AEW’s version of the clip right after it went up, along with the message:
You gotta laugh 😂
He picked up a won over his old rival El-P, who gave him a fight on the last Dynamite before Forbidden Door…
… before falling to a Hidden Blade.
And good thing Ospreay and Garcia had that moment earlier. It must have helped young Daniel decide to take the Vertebreaker Strickland intended for Ospreay in the melee after Gracia’s loss to Swerve.
