According to a report from Sky Germany (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is probably not in any danger at this point of losing his job, despite some whispers to the contrary:
A Max Eberl dismissal is very unlikely at this stage. Although there have been critical voices on the supervisory board for some time, and not all bosses are completely satisfied with Eberl’s work, a dismissal is not planned at today’s supervisory board meeting.
BFW Analysis
It would seem pretty harsh to sack
Eberl at this point. The executive is operating under some serious restraints, managed to shed some salary (maybe not enough for the supervisory board), and made a few key additions. Ultimately, how Luis Díaz performs (early returns are great) will play a big role in Eberl’s future, but he should have this season and next summer to prove himself once again.
The summer of 2026 will likely be the real proving ground for Eberl. Potential departures of Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer, and Dayot Upamecano loom, while complicated personnel matters with popular players (in the locker room) like Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka also could present interesting decisions for Eberl.
Bayern Munich got off to a red-hot start this season and we are thrilled with the early returns. With the end of the transfer window coming up, there is still much to discuss, so let’s not waste any more time. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show:
- It’s not quite the morning after, but let’s talk about Bayern Munich’s massive 6-0 win over RB Leipzig and what it means.
- Lennart Karl will have a great duo to study — the relentless energy and attacking aggression of Luis Diaz and the brilliant aloofness of Michael Olise.
- Can Serge Gnabry hold down the fort?
- Joshua Kimmich is a constant…and a necessity.
- The backline still needs a big test.
- Bayern Munich could miss out on Nick Woltemade in 2026 as the bidding could open up to other clubs.
- Bayern Munich might have the right approach, but the wrong PR campaign for its approach to finishing the transfer window.
